Inherent in the skills required of a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor, CRPC, is a working knowledge of all areas of retirement. This includes the macro view at the plan sponsor level and the micro view at the individual participant level as well as everything in between. The affect that Medicare has on your health insurance from your employer and Social Security, are also part of this course of study through the College for Financial Planning.
The passage of EGTRRA in 2001 changed many of the rules for plan sponsors when starting or contributing to their company plan. The new rules were designed to simplify such things as annual addition limits but ended up complicating some other issue such as the calculation of the employer’s contribution. On the individual level, plan portability is easier than ever except for the exclusions that make an otherwise clear-cut rule opaque.
